Nova Scotia and Newfoundland
|
---|---|
Description |
The map shows Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and parts of New Brunswick and Quebec. Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Anticosti Island and the Magdalen Islands are mapped in detail, particularly the coastal features. The various jurisdictions are outlined with different colours. The map shows the railway to Quebec. It uses hachures to show elevation. The map has five (5) colour illustrations: "Nova Scotia and Cape Breton", which appears to be a coin; "Newfoundland", also a coin; "Halifax, Nova Scotia", which shows a harbour view of the city; "Cod Fishery off Newfoundland" showing fishing ships at sea; and, at the bottom, an untitled illustration of Newfoundland dogs. The map has a bar scale in miles below the title and a decorative border showing frozen branches, scrolls and fish on lines. The map was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin; the illustrations were drawn by A. Fussell and engraved by J. Rogers. James W. Macnutt Collection.
